Expert Tips for the Best Puppy Care after Leaving the Shop in Singapore: Ensure Your Furry Friend's Health and Happiness!

Adjusting in a new home and environment is a stressful event for a puppy. It is common for a puppy to have an adjustment period. If your puppy's behaviour change or if they exhibit the following symptoms, please contact us immediately.


Coughing / Panting (Over-exertion)

1. Excitement & stress – new environment, new people, new rules. Puppies, especially the hyperactive ones will need time to adjust.
2. Cold – fan blowing directly at the puppy or aircon switched on full blast at the puppy.

Solutions

1. Give honey to the pup as soon as he coughs.
2. Limit his movement to an enclosed space (where he does the toilet training). Do not give him the run of the house.
3. Put him away from direct wind from the fan or the aircon. Aircon at night is not necessary (our puppies do not sleep in aircon, but space is well ventilated)

 
Diarrhea

1. Low quality treats or dog food
2. Raw meat from the butcher
3. New food

Solutions

1. Do not give most cheap commercial treats which have additives, MSG, preservatives on the label. Stick to freeze dried foods such as K9 Natural, The Honest Kitchen, Small batch. Give fruits or honey as treats.
2. Charcoal Pill: Ultracarbon
3. If you are changing dog food brands, introduce the new food gradually over a few weeks. Week 1 mix 75%current, 25% new. Week 2 mix 50-50.

 
Eating poop (Cacophagia)

1. Not enough food (quantity, quality or variety)
2. Lack of certain vitamins and minerals in the food

 
Solutions

1. Give more food – puppies are growing and need more food than adult dogs.
2. Give banana – Cesar Millan solved a case of a dog eating his poop by giving him banana. He mentioned that banana has vitamins and minerals which the dog was looking for. It works!
