Labradoodle requires moderate-high level of exercise and mental stimulation to stay healthy and stress-free. We recommend at least 45-60 minutes of regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep your canine happy and cheerful. It's also important to adjust the exercise duration to suit your dog. For instance, a puppy requires significantly lesser amount of exercise compared to an adult dog. Labradoodle enjoy a variety of activities, such as walking, fetching, agility training, and others, especially swimming. They love swimming and if you do too, then this breed of dog is a perfect companion for you! In summary, this breed needs daily exercise to maintain their health, wellbeing and to keep them stress-free. They are quite energetic and enjoy a variety of activities and benefit from a mix of physical and mental stimulation.
Labradoodle's shedding level differ widely depending on how each was bred. Some do shed a lot, while the majority sheds less than other purebred or breeds. They are considered to be double coated, which often results in extreme matting when the dogs are not properly brushed every day. This, therefore, makes them quite a high maintenance dog.
Here are some grooming requirements and recommendations for Labradoodle:
Brushing: We recommend grooming your dog at least 1-2 time a week to maintain the coat health and keep them moist and untanggled.
Bathing: Because they like to go outside and get dirty, we recommend bathing your dog at least 1-2 times a week. Use a mild dog shampoo (we recommend Silky shampoo) and be sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid any skin irritation. Lastly, remember to blow dry to make sure the skin is completely dry to prevent skin issues.
Trimming: They also require occasional trimming or clipping, particularly around the pads and between the toes to prevent overgrowth and tangles and maintain a tidy appearance. Bring your kennel to a professional dog groomer every 3 months for a full grooming service to get the best result.
Nail Clipping: The frequency of nail clipping depends on the surface where your dog mostly walk on. Otherwise clip your dog's nails once every 6-8 weeks are enough. But whenever you do, be sure to use a sharp, proper nail clipper and avoid cutting too close to the quick. Leave the cutting to the Professional dog groomer to avoid traumatizing the puppy if nails bleed during cutting (which is very common).
Teeth Cleaning: Regular teeth cleaning is important for your dog to prevent dental problems. Brush their teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush and use a dog-specific toothpaste.
Ear Cleaning: Labradoodle's ears require extra attention as they are floppy and dropped down, which make them prone to infections. In general, we recommend cleaning their ears every 2 to 3 weeks. For cleaning, be sure to use a gentle, dog-specific ear cleaner to prevent buildup of dirt and bacteria in the long run.
Overall, a Labradoodle is a high maintenance dog that requires regularly grooming and bathing to keep its coat clean and untangled. We also recommend paying extra attentions to its ears as they can easily get infected by germs and bacteria due to their floppy nature.
