Mini Schnauzer have a hypoallergenic coat that requires regular grooming to keep it in good condition. A professional groomer may recommend stripping to maintain the rough top coat of the schnauzer which adhere to the show standard. In reality, most schnauzers nowadays get a haircut as stripping can be uncomfortable for the dog and is high maintenance. Here are some grooming requirements and recommendations for Miniature Schnauzer:
Brushing: Regular brushing can help remove loose hair, prevent mats and tangles, and distribute natural oils throughout the coat, which helps keep the skin health. Deshedding comb needs to be used to remove undercoat and prevent excess shedding around the house.
Bathing: Miniature Schnauzer needs to be bathed every week in Singapore's humid climate. Use a mild dog shampoo (we recommend Silky shampoo) and be sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid any skin irritation. Lastly, remember to blow dry to make sure the skin is completely dry to prevent skin issues.
Trimming: They require trimming of fur, please send then to the professional groomers every 2-3 months for a quick trim to neaten the fur.
Nail Clipping: These dogs' nails should be trimmed regularly to prevent them from getting too long and causing discomfort or injury. Be sure to use a sharp, proper nail clipper and avoid cutting too close to the quick. Leave the cutting to the Professional dog groomer to avoid traumatizing the puppy if nails bleed during cutting (which is very common).
Teeth Cleaning: Regular teeth cleaning is important for this breed to prevent dental problems. Brush their teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush and use a dog-specific toothpaste.
Ear Cleaning: This dog breed can have ear infections, so it's important to clean their ears regularly with a gentle, dog-specific ear cleaner to prevent buildup of dirt and bacteria.
Overall, Miniature Schnauzer require regular grooming to keep them looking and feeling their best. With proper grooming and maintenance, you can help ensure your Miniature Schnauzer stays healthy, comfortable, and happy.
